St Albans is a city in the centre of Hertfordshire, located around twenty miles north of central London, with an estimated population of 57,000. Nearby towns include Hatfield, Hemel Hempstead, Watford and Harpenden. Historically, it was the first main town on Watling street, which was a roman road used by people travelling north.
The city and surrounding areas grew as a part of the great London expansion during the 1800s and 1900s, and nowadays it is a commuter town for workers travelling into London, making it part of the greater London surrounding area. Commuters and visitors can access the capital city via train in around twenty minutes.
St Albans has a number of historical attractions, with the most well known being the city’s cathedral. The city is named after Saint Alban, who was the first recorded British Christian Martyr. The church is built upon the grounds of which Alban, the first saint in the United Kingdom, was buried in 305 AD. There are another three more churches in St Albans, all of which were built during the Saxon era. There is also the St Albans museum and gallery which shows art ranging from various periods in time.
Additionally there is the Verulamium museum, named after the Roman name of the city, which exhibits the great history of the city including remains of the Roman artwork, architecture and more. More of the city’s Roman history can be seen at the Hypocaust and the theatre.
The city is a great place for leisure with its variation of shops, restaurants and activities. The shopping selection offers both well known chains as well as independent stores and boutiques offering something new. Additional shopping is up for offers at the St Albans at the street market which runs two times a week.
Professional carpet cleaning arguably provides the best results for removing as much dirt and dust as possible, due to the fact it can reach the deep dirt which is below the surface. The process is often referred to as steam cleaning, however no steam is actually applied to the carpet, just steam produced by hot water escaping. This hot water extraction method is most commonly used, especially over the use of actual steam cleaning as it risks damaging carpets which are made of man-made fibres because they are often set using heat.
Carpet cleaning machines are available in two main types; a unit which is powered by electricity within a house or building, or a machine which is mounted in a truck or van in which it is powered.
It begins by adding a liquid cleaning solution which soaks deep into the carpet piles. An alkaline or acidic solution is used depending on what type pf fibres the treated carpets are made of. The water applied can be heated to anywhere between 50 and 120 degrees celsius, which depends on the model of the cleaning unit. Brushes then scrub the carpeting to dislodge embedded dirt and stains, with the liquid and dirt then being removed together with a powerful vacuum.
The extraction process is the most important to not only remove the dirt but to ensure that the liquid is suctioned properly so that the carpets do not stay damp or mould begins to grow. Some people try to help the drying process by using dehumidifiers as additional ventilation.
Carpet cleaning helps to maintain and care for the carpet, which means to will stay in better condition for longer, helping you to get more for your money.
